Even though we've been at this hobby shop quest now for 8 years, we're constantly meeting new people, and watching the gaming culture shift and grow throughout the years. Our team has grown as well featuring awesome new locations throughout the wiregrass thanks to Michael Campany and Hiram Faircloth! We're happy to have been a part of this growth so this year we wanted to do something special to honor each location and it's owner. We took a side quest and set out on an adventure with Moe Balinger to create some memorable shirts to help spread the word about our little gaming corner in the world!
WELCOME TO FANATIX!
In July of 2010 Fanatix opened its doors to provide a hub for all geeks and gamers. In just over 5 years we took our community from an 800 square foot shop to 5000 square feet of gaming, comic, and geek paradise. We place an emphasis on the community and focus our efforts towards creating events and tournaments to provide a unique and fun environment for anyone involved in the pop-culture and gaming communities. 8 years later here is our story so far...
In 2012 we started a local cosplay initiative to get more people into the hobby: Fanatix Cosplay
In 2013 we started a local Fan Convention to further promote our scene: Alabama Fanaticon
In 2013 we started a local effort called the "Dothan Skatepark Initiative"
In 2014 we began a small press project to help promote local authors and artists: Fanatix And Co.
In 2015 we opened our 2nd location Enterprise Fanatix!
In 2016 we moved our Dothan store to a larger location in March, adding a coffee shop: The Board and Table, as well as opening our 3rd location: Troy Fanatix!
In 2017 we added a range of outdoor hobbies such as Disc Golf and Skateboarding gear! in order to better serve our local special interest communities. We helped the city of Taylor, AL build their first Disc Golf Course! Fanatix funded the baskets, graphic design, and marketing materials for the course with a budget donation of over $4,000.
In 2017 Fanatix began pushing the Dothan Skatepark Initiative and Rad Giant Skate Supply to further the reach of special interest hobbies. We led a fundraiser effort that helped finish building an initial layout for "The Slab", a DIY skatepark for downtown dothan. We raised over $3,000 for that effort. Dothan Skatepark Initiative continues to raise awareness and funds for public skatespots.
In 2018 we collaborated with ZERO Skateboards and Jamie Thomas to make our first Shop Deck. Featuring DOTHAN on the graphic, all proceeds went to the Dothan Skatepark Initiative's fundraising efforts.
We've also created and supported clubs and special interest groups for: Board Gaming, Anime, Warhammer 40k, Magic The Gathering, Cosplay, Esports and many more.
Thanks for 7 years of business, here's to many more!
